NEWS FROM FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, KIRKSVILLE

January  4, 2008

DEVOTION FROM REV. JIM (written on December 31, 2007)

As I write this devotion I am looking out my office window and watching the beautiful snowfall and reflecting on our awesome creator God and the beauty of all that God offers us!

As we conclude a calendar year and contemplate a new one, many thoughts compete for conscious "screen" space and time in my mind. First are the "thoughts of thanks" for all of the blessings of 2007, the list is lengthy, you folks are near the top of the list, Linda is a bit above you on the list (because I'm trying to get back in good with her after Sunday's "angel" comment)! The First UMC Faith Community not only is a blessing, but has received blessings this past year in numerous and noteworthy ways for which I am most grateful, in the words of many, "it has been a great ride"!

As my snowfall window gaze scans skyward I notice the sun trying to shine through the snowclouds, can you believe it? I think it is a sign of the light and love and leadership that God has before us beyond the snow and the present, beyond 2007, there are great things for us in 2008! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Let's continue this conversation next Sunday,

Love in Christ,

Rev. Jim
