NEWS FROM FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, KIRKSVILLE
February 1, 2007
DEVOTION FROM REV. JIM
Last Sunday, Linda and I worshipped with the Clinton UMC in Clinton, Arkansas. Several impressions were formed around that experience and all were compared with First UMC, Kirksville. There were one or two things that I would like to suggest that we incorporate, but several that were not helpful, and some that worked for them that wouldn't work for us. It was good to be in worship, and to worship from the pew, a rare experience for me, and certainly a different perspective, I now can empathize as well as sympathize with you who do that frequently. I was familiar with the hymns and the readings and felt comfortable and worshipful, the anthem was really special, not quite up to First UMC standards, but very nice and quite powerful. It was good to be in the house of the Lord with another part of God's family, but I must admit, very often my thoughts were with you folk here and what would have been happening here. I know it went well here, several people have reported that to me, and I have the service tape to listen to, and am thankful to Rev. Eric and Wesley House and Lynae and others for their leadership in my absence. Linda and I appreciated our time away, but are most happy to be safely home and look forward to seeing you Sunday and telling you more about my time away and hearing about your experience here.
Love in Christ,
Rev. Jim

WESLEY HOUSE SUNDAY SUPPERS
Check the sign-up sheet on the office window for times you can help the Wesley House Campus Ministry by providing food for their Sunday evening meal.
This is a great type of mission project for you and your family or your Sunday School class or group to be involved in. The students will appreciate a home-cooked meal and also enjoy visiting with you.
Please plan for 25-30 people. All you need to do is take the food to the Wesley House at 903 S. Davis. The students will help with the drinks and table service when you get there. The suggested time is by 5 p.m. as the meal is at 6 p.m. That will give you enough time to get things ready.
You may email Wesley at wesley@truman.edu or call 660-665-2331. This is a wonderful way to help our students!
