NEWS FROM FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, KIRKSVILLE

December 19, 2007

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

DEVOTION FROM REV. JIM (written on Monday, December 17th)

Can you believe it, next Sunday we will light the fourth and final Advent candle and be within two days of Christmas, what have you got left to do? Does it have spiritual significance?

I'm visiting with the UMM today about a Christmas strategy inspired by Christian Financial Advisor, Dave Ramsey. Dave's strategy reminds us to remind ourselves of priorities and goals and be faithful to them. We have the Magi to thank for the "gift" emphases, which is certainly encouraged by our culture and economy.

The Shepherds said to each other, following the Angelic announcement, "Let us go and see this thing that has happened" Let's you and I focus on "this thing that is happening" and ensure that the "thing" is the main thing!

See ya' Sunday,

Love in Christ,

Rev. Jim
