NEWS FROM FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, KIRKSVILLE

February 14, 2008

DEVOTION FROM REV. JIM

We just finished our first Chapel Communion service for Lent, if you weren't there, we missed you and will be looking for you next week.

Among the many things we discussed and considered as reflection material was the Sanctuary for Lent devotional booklet reading for today in which the author, Pastor James Howell, suggests that we should "personalize" the Lord's Prayer. This personalization would mean when we say, "forgive us our trespasses", we would then say, "such as _____________________", and when we say, "as we forgive those who trespass against us, we would then say, such as _______________________", and when we say, "lead us not into temptation, we would then say, such as ____________
_____________".

Listing the trespasses and trespassers and temptations would indeed personalize our Lent, how about it? Want to try it?

See ya' Sunday,

Love in Christ,

Rev. Jim
