NEWS FROM FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, KIRKSVILLE
May 8, 2008
REMEMBER TO WEAR RED FOR PENTECOST SUNDAY!
DEVOTION FROM REV. JIM
You remember the story about the young man who wanted to sleep in on Sunday, and his mother is saying to him, get up, it's Sunday and you have to get up to go to Sunday School and church. The young man replied, give me three reasons why I should, to which his mother said: 1) This family always goes to church, has for several generations 2) You learn about the Gospel and the good life, how to live right, how to please and honor God with your life, and 3) You're the pastor!
Well there are three good reasons for all of us to come to church next Sunday. 1) It is Pentecost Sunday, we will be celebrating the birthday of the church, 2) It is Membership Sunday, we will be receiving new members, some with baptism, and 3) IT'S MOTHER'S DAY!
It's been my honor and high privilege to have been your Senior Pastor for the past eleven years!
See ya' Sunday!
Love in Christ,
Rev. Jim
