We, the musicians at Freehold United Methodist Church, have a great
love of music and take much pride in bringing it to the congregation and
beyond. We have rarely publicized special events. The senior choir has 21
members, plus two extra male voices who join us for special occasions. There
are 8 sopranos, 6 altos, 4 tenors, and 3 bass. There is also a ladies choir -
just starting out at this time. There are six members and they like singing at
the early service.

The
music director, Annabell Minty, received advanced training in Glasgow Cathedral
in Scotland while accompanying one service each Sunday in St. Mary's Episcopal
Cathedral. She won several competitive organ competitions in major Scotland
cities, and went on to perform throughout the country. Now her concentration is
on preparing the weekly worship services at Freehold United Methodist Church.
|
Currently in the early planning stages is to have a guitar and
keyboard group that will lead the singing once a month at the early service. In
addition, from time to time, we have a soloist at the 8:30 service. For the
past 11 years, choir members have sung at Ocean Grove in the 1200 voice choir
in July. We also have two excellent violinists, between two and five trumpets
and sometimes up to six guitarists.
|
The children's choir rehearses
weekly and sings at the early service. Major musical works that the senior
choir has sung are: Faure's Requiem, Handel's Messiah (Christmas portion) Saint
Saen's Christmas, Oratorio Schubert's Mass in G, Dubois' Seven last words,
Vivaldi's Gloria and Stainer's Crucifixion, and several other shorter
contemporary seasonal works.
