As you
read this update, the youth are in Atlanta enjoying Snow Park at Stone
Mountain. We will snow-tube, build snowmen, have a loving snowball toss,
and eat S'Mores by the fire. Debbie Risteyn's sister Sandi has graciously
offered her home for us to stay in and that will make the cost of this
trip reasonable for the youth. Also, the support of our church family
for the brunch, luncheon and Silent Auction gives us the funds to offer
help and to pay the expenses for our adult chaperones. There will be
no brunch on January 3rd as we will have just returned from our trip
to Atlanta.
As I look into 2010, I am excited about the opportunities our church
has for the New Year.
Celebrate Jesus is going to be very exciting and a wonderful event that
will bring our church closer to the community. This will be a wonderful
week for our church with adults, youth, and children coming together
as a family to reach out to the community.
This
summer, the youth will go to the Ichthus Music Festival and on a Mission
Trip. The planning phase for these events will take place in
January. Fundraising will begin with our traditional Super Bowl Subs
on Super Bowl Sunday. Our lunches and brunches will continue on the
first Sunday of each month beginning in February.
We may also have a Yard Sale in February. As you clean out closets in
January, please remember the youth with any donations you can offer.
Chrysalis weekends are also approaching and we have a few girls who
will be eligible to attend and others who have participated in a weekend
already and are anxious about beginning to work. The Boys' flight will
be January 30th -- February 1st and the Girls' weekend will be February
6th -- 8th. Please keep this ministry in your prayers as it is a great
tool which builds up our youth to be the leaders of tomorrow.
- Have
a wonderful new year!
