Frequently Asked Questions

Spiritual Issues
Q: How do I know if I have eternal life?
A: Do you hear Jesus knocking at your heart's door? Jesus said,
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my
voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he
with me." Rev. 3:20 Ask yourself the following questions: 1) Do you
renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers
of this world, and repent of your sin? 2) Do you accept the
freedom and power God gives you to resist evil, injustice, and
oppression in whatever forms they present themselves? 3) Do you
confess Jesus Christ as your Savior, put your whole trust in his
grace, and promise to serve him as your Lord, in union with the
church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations, and
races? Will you pray the following prayer from your heart? “Dear
Lord Jesus, I come to you just as I am. Forgive my unfaithfulness
in not having done your will. I here from the bottom of my heart
turn away from all my sin, promising you that no known sin will be
allowed in my life. Let me be your servant, under your command. I
will no longer be my own. I will give up myself to your will in all
things. Before all heaven and earth, I here acknowledge you as my
Lord and God, and vow to give up myself, body and soul, as your
servant, to serve you in holiness and righteousness all the days of
my life. O blessed Jesus, I come to you, hungry, sinful, miserable,
blind, and naked, unworthy even to wash the feet of your servants.
And now, glory be to you, O God the Son, who loved me and washed me
from my sins in your own blood. Glory be to you, O God the Holy
Spirit, who by your almighty power turned my heart from sin to God.
Glory be to you, O God the Father, whom I will look upon as my God
and Father from this day forward. Let the promise I have now made
on earth be ratified in heaven.* In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

Q: What is the scripture reading for
this week?
A: 1 Peter 2:19-25 (New International Version)
Jesus the Way to the Father
1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[a]; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going." 5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." 8Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us." 9Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. A: The United Methodist Church was created on April 23, 1968, when
The Evangelical United Brethren Church, and The Methodist Church

with other Methodist and Wesleyan bodies. The lives and ministries
of
John Wesley (1703-1791) and of his brother, Charles (1707-1788),
mark the origin of their common roots.
