It is hard to be a teenager in today's world. School provides information sometimes contradicting our beliefs. Culture provides an ongoing list of toys that are 'guaranteed' to bring happiness. At First United Methodist Church we try to answer the questions in the minds of many youth: 'So What?' and 'Who Cares?' First United Methodist Church strives to bring meaning to the lives of today's youth by introducing them to the person of Jesus Christ and teaching them to be Disciples of Christ.
A time to answer the question, What does the Bible have to do with me?' Confirmation class is
for youth over 7th grade and starts meeting in the fall of each year. Both Sunday school and
Confirmation help youth know and experience God through Jesus Christ and encourage youth to
grow and serve as Christian disciples. It is an accepting atmosphere where all are regarded as
seekers.
Our band plays for special services like the Easter Sunrise and Christmas Eve services.
Our youth ministry also participates in several special activities, retreats, trips, mission trips and
service projects throughout the year. Sometimes we join youth groups of other denominations
and/or other United Methodist churches. The main purpose of all of our special activities is to: 1)
learn more about God; 2) learn more about ourselves and 3) learn more about each other.
Our professional and volunteer staff is available to answer any of your questions. If we can not answer your question, we will put you in touch with someone who can. We believe that there are No Stupid Questions! E-mail Pastor Dennis or call the Pastor at 319-754-8421 for help, to give an idea, for advice, or for someone to listen to you.
