(updated 1/25/10)
A special charge
conference was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 7:30 PM at FCUMC by our
District Superintendent for the purpose of considering and voting on a proposal
from Cheltenham UMC to merge all assets including money, property and
membership into the Fox Chase UMC.
The administrative board members present, which was more than the quorum
required, voted for the merger, which took place effective July 1st
2008. Some of the FCUMC members were present at Cheltenham’s June 22, 10:30 am
service where they invited all Cheltenham members to join us at FCUMC in
combined service to Christ. The
last Church Service at Cheltenham took place on the 29th of
June. On July 6th
there was a single church service at FCUMC and that was a welcoming time for
our new members at 10am. A
luncheon followed. There were over
100 people at the church service and 16 people in the combined choir. The Boards of Trustees of both Churches
are working together to iron out the details of merger. On October 9, 2008 we
received the incorporation papers from the state of PA and are now officially
merged with the Cheltenham UM church.
We will now proceed to integrate Cheltenham funds, property and
membership into Fox Chase UMC. We
are presently soliciting buyers for the Cheltenham Church Property consisting
of the Church and School building, a parking lot and a parsonage at 317 Central
Ave. in Cheltenham Village, PA 19012. Some interest has been shown.

On December 30,
2009 the Board of Trustees of FCUMC voted to accept the offer of the Manna
Bible Institute. They have
deposited with us considerable funds to show good faith and have demonstrated
ability to handle the financial burden of a mortgage. This agreement will be presented to our Administrative Board
for their approval and to the Eastern Penna. Conference of the UMC for their
approval. Stay loose on this (I
have heard some rumblings). We
have another offer waiting in the wings.
Manna Bible
Institute is a not for profit Christian organization that teaches the Bible on
the College level and is affiliated with colleges on the east coast. They plan to use the property as a headquarters
and a school. They also plan to
rent out the sanctuary for Sunday Church services to a viable
congregation.
Additional details will be
forthcoming. Stay tuned.

Web Master Committee Experimental
Project-
We are in the process of trying
something new. At this location
there will be links to sound clips of various items of interest related to the
church. Our first experiment will
be a voice introduction by Pastor Krall followed by a piano selection from the
concert given by Dr. June Grutzmacher in the fall of 2008 at FCUMC. Total listening time is 5 minutes. There are two scenarios that may happen
depending on the settings in the operating system and the speed of your
internet link etc. 1) When you click on the link (Click Here to Hear”) the file
will begin to play in the Media Player.
It may pause a couple of times in order to catch up with the
download. If you persevere with
this you can replay it in its uninterrupted entirety. 2) The wave (wav) file will have to be downloaded into a
temporary directory. (approx. 27 meg.)
The computer will do this automatically if you answer “yes” to the
question that pops up on the screen.
You will need a fast internet link such as FIOS or Comcast or you will
wait all day. You may then click
on the downloaded file and it will open up and play in Microsoft’s Media
player. Be patient while it loads
in. It may take a minute or
so. Media player is included in
the Windows XP and Vista operating systems and must configured to play wav
files on auto play. This is the
default setting when the operating system was first installed so if you haven’t
made a change it is probably O.K.
If you have any comments or questions let’s hear from you at the church
