Forrest Burdette Staff

Reverend Dr. Dan Hogan, Senior Pastor
Dan joined our staff in June of 1998. He is a graduate of Asbury College and Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky, and completed his doctoral work at Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, New Jersey. He and his wife, Nelda, have two sons, Johnathan and Andrew.

Don Gatewood, Pastoral Assistant
Don joined the Forrest Burdette staff October 1, 2000. He is a graduate of West Virginia State College and an ordained minister with extensive pastoral experience. Don is a past president of the West Virginia Gospel Tabernacle Association and has served on several national boards and in technical professional organizations. He is a volunteer career consultant for the American Chemical Society. He and his wife Carole began attending Forrest Burdette Memorial UMC in June 1997.

Program Staff

Craig Jones, Music Minister

Craig joined the staff of Forrest Burdette in December of 2006. He and his wife, Shenan, have been members of the church since 1997. Craig has a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Bowling Green State University. Craig and Shenan have three children: Davey, Thomas, and Jayna.

Jonathan Dierdorff, Youth Minister

Karen Ray, Children's Minister

Karen presently lives in South Charleston with her husband Glen, of 36 years. He is a committed Christian and loves playing the guitar. Glen and Karen have a daughter, Sabrina, and a grandson named Tyler. Karen shares that becoming a "Nana" has been a soul-searching quest and has led her to make a full circle in her life back to children’s ministry.

Church Support Staff

Susan Borth, Church Secretary
Susan joined our staff in April of 2006. She moved here from Logan County in July 2005. Susan retired with 40 years of service from the Logan County Board of Education, where she was the Executive Secretary to the Superintendent. She has one daughter, Amy Grassinger, son-in-law Jason, and one grandson, Connor (whom she adores). Susan became a member of Forrest Burdette in December, 2005. She enjoys reading and serving the Lord.

Lisa Bailes, Secretarial Assistant
Lisa joined the staff in September, 2004. She attended Marshall University with a background in Dental Assisting/Medical Office Technology. She and her husband, Shawn, have two sons, Jacob and Joshua. They attend First Baptist Church of Hurricane. Lisa enjoys camping, vacationing at the beach and spending time with her family.

Children's Outreach Ministry Staff

Mia Ferguson, Preschool Director
Mia joined the Children's Outreach Ministries staff in February 2001 as COM Business manager and Assistant Preschool Director. She graduated from Marshall University (1998) with a BS in dietetics and an M.A. in Education. She recently accepted the position as Head Director for the Preschool. She is married to Curtis Ferguson. They have two daughters, Darya and Emma.

Jennifer McCoy, Latchkey and Sonshine Daycare Director
Jenny oversees both the Latchkey Program and the Sonshine Center. She is a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Elementary Education. She and and her husband, Brian, have a son, Austin. They recently became the parents of twins, Colt and Riley.
