Sunday School Classes

A solid Sunday School foundation for all children (nursery through 5^th grade) taught by dedicated and qualified volunteers who have a passion for God and a special love for children. Forrest Burdette utilizes Cokesbury’s Sunday School curriculum to implement a Bible based learning experience for all children to experience God through Jesus Christ.

Beginning the Fall of 2008 a new curriculum “Rock Solid – Building a Heart of Faith” will be initiated in all Sunday School classes.

Nursery Care
Nursery Care is provided for infants and toddlers (prior to age 2) during all scheduled church activities.  Pagers are available to give parents peace of mind while leaving their child in a safe and secure nursery with our qualified adult and youth volunteers.

Children’s Church and Kiddie Church

  An alternative to formal worship for children 2 years old through 5^th grade during the 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services. Children come together for a fun-filled worship experience where they learn to use their Bibles, pray, sing  and play with their friends while learning about the love of God.  The first Sunday of each month children are encouraged to participate in communion with their peers.

8:30 AM Children’s Church accommodates children 2 years old through 2^nd grade.

11 AM Children’s Church accommodates children Kindergarten through 2^nd grade.

11 AM Kiddie Church serves two groups of children: one class for 2 and 3 year olds and another class for 4 and 5 year olds. This program allows children to learn Bible stories and social skills as they sing and play together during the 11:00 a.m. worship service.

Wednesday Night Children's Programs
Our Wednesday evening program provides learning and fun through interactive activities for children age 2 years through 5th grade. (Child Care is available for those younger in the nursery.)

Fall of 2008 the children will be taking a “JOY” journey using High Point curriculum to explore mission fields around the world. Each weekly simulated air flight will lead our travelers to a new location where they will explore and learn all about the joy of the Lord for themselves and a missionary family. During the flight the children will meet some amazing characters that will reveal insight into true joy. A flight layover will give the children an opportunity to participate in music classes and a service project.

Music Opportunities

Children's Handhimes
Open for children in 1^st and 2^nd grade. An opportunity for children to learn handchime fundamentals and perform for the congregation during the holiday season.  Classes are part of our Wednesday night program.

Choirs
The Joyful Noise Choir consist of children ages 3 years through Kindergarten and practice on Wednesday nights.  

The King’s Kids Choir consist of children in first through fifth grade and also practice on Wednesday nights.

Both choirs perform at various times throughout the year.

 

Other Opportunities

Acolytes
Children in grades 3-5 are invited to share in this ministry of assistance under the training of the pastor and the Worship Team.

Special Seasonal and Mission Activities
At various times throughout the year, children are offered special holiday gatherings and service projects that help them to learn more about our religious celebrations and mission emphasis.

Vacation Bible School
A special week-long VBS program provided during the third week of June for children nursery through 5^th grade. All children are invited to attend and bring their friends for a fun week of learning about God’s love, singing new songs, making special crafts, playing awesome games, making new friends, and enjoying cool refreshments!

Children's Outreach Ministries
We have a great preschool program for 2 to 4 year olds.  We also have latchkey and day care programs to meet the demands of today's working parents.  Follow this link to find out more.
