MUSIC PROGRAM
MAKING A JOYFUL NOISE
Our ministry of music begins with the most important component: Congregational Singing! Our latest United Methodist Hymnal was published in 1989 and has a wonderful balance of Gospel, Traditional, Folk Melodies and Contemporary Songs. In addition, we have added a new paperback hymnal-Renew- Songs and Hymns for Blended Worship 1997. When you come to worship with us, expect to sing. In the words of John Wesley, founder of the United Methodist Church, "Sing lustily and with good courage. Beware of singing as if you were half dead, or half asleep; but lift up your voice with strength."
Our Director of Music is Helen Smith who plays the organ/ piano/ keyboard and conducts our adult choir, our children's choir. Our handbell choir is now directed Christine Smith. Our adult choir sings a variety of anthems from classical (sung in Latin) to music that will have you tapping your toes and swaying to the regular and irregular beat of the music.
Handbell Choir rehearsal Wednesday Evenings 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.
Children's Choir rehearsal Thursday Evenings 5:30-6:15 P.M.
Adult Choir rehearsal Thursday Evenings 7:00-8:30 P.M.
Besides providing for music and the leading of congregational singing, all of our choirs have performed outside in the community in support of Ecumenical Services, special celebrations and to shut-ins in various Convalescent Homes.
