 SUNDAY DECEMBER 3rd-DECEMBER 10th

The concept of the Alternative Christmas Market is simple.  You may make a contribution to one or more of six mission projects.  An ornament symbolizing that gift is hung on our Mission Tree at the church.  You are given a card at church along with a description of the mission project that you can send to a loved one, honoring them with the gift given in their name

If you cannot come to church, you can use the order form below and we will send the card out for you (minimum $5.00 per gift at home - no minimum at the church). All checks should be made out to First United Methodist but be sure to tell us on the order form which project(s) you are supporting by your "gift".

WHEAT

The West Haven Emergency Assistance Taskforce has for 25 years served our neighbors in West Haven.  Presently, families can receive groceries four times a year and also can receive a thanksgiving basket and a Christmas basket.  Toys are also given out at Christmas.

HOPE

Helping Other People Everyway is a soup kitchen, clothing distribution center held weekly at First Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Recently the number served has grown to 45-50, many who are homeless.

Heifer Project

The gift of animals to the poor result in the first animal offspring being passed on to yet another family so that the gift keeps on giving.  Your contribution provides for a "share" of one of the larger animals such as a calf or a goat.

Beth-El Shelter

Is more than a shelter as temporary residents enter a program to try to help them out of poverty and homelessness.  The program also runs a a daily M-F soup kitchen serving hot lunch.

Church World Service

Is the unique United Methodist Project that supports the work of missionaries around the world.   Money given here will be applied to our budjet to pay our fair share of the world service programs.

Hill Health Center Pharmacy Program

Provides assistance to the needy who could not otherwise afford to have their prescriptions filled.  This new addition to our market is an important project and keeps us connected with our brothers and sisters of Wesley UMC as we reach out to residents in the Hill of New Haven.
