UMW Meeting - 10/27

Karen Barnard and Joyce McNulty, from the Women's Auxiliary for the Gideons, were guest speakers at our UMW meeting on October 27th.  They showed a video on the Gideon Bible Distribution and told how God's Love through the Bible distribution has changed lives all over the world and also in our area.  A card rack was left for all our church members to send cards and bibles.  Cards can be used for many occasions and the money from the cards is used to buy Bibles which are sent around the world.  Thank you Joyce McConnell for arranging this program.
The business meeting opened with prayer by our President, Joyce Groce`.  A thank you note from Stacy Gerber was read by Debbie Hall thanking everyone for all our help in the amazing conference, "Building Supportive Communities'.  Stacy thanked us for the cookies and all our support.
The date for our UMW Christmas Party has been changed to Wednesday, December 9th at 6 p.m. (instead of 12/14).  We are to bring a $5.00 home made give and an offering for a needy family in our area.  Everyone is invited to come.   A list was given for children in need in our area for Christmas.  Gifts are to be wrapped and given to Joyce McConnell by Sunday, November 29.    Samaritan Purse Christmas boxes are due at our church on November 15th.  Please use a plastic box or a standard shoe box.  Fill them with items to be enjoyed by children who will not have Christmas this year.
A beautiful Fall table with a delicious spice cake dessert was served by Hostesses Kristie Wilpula and Lois Augustine.
The next UMW meeting is Tuesday, November 24.  See you there!

Lynette Spencer - My Sister

On October 13 at 8:45 a.m. I walked to the living room where Lynette lay in a hospital bed, to begin the days routine with her.  I had meds in hand & something for her to eat already waiting bedside, when I noticed the smile on her face & you could see her at peace.  I could hear the hum of the oxygen machine as it did its job; but getting next to her, I realized she had taken the oxygen off again & found it hidden at her right side under her hand & the blanket.  She was a very independent person, liking to do things herself.  So she did it her way, going home to be with Jesus while I was out of the room having breakfast and getting dressed.
A big thank you to all who were prayer warriors for Lynette over these past 8  months.  We always knew you were faithful to hold her up, it was felt, even when things didn't go the way we hoped.  She was one never to complain much, no matter what was put before her.  She said right up to the end she was going to get better & get back to work.  Lynette knew the Lord and wanted most to be a faithful servant for Him, reaching out to help others.  She was always doing for others in so many ways, it was evident in all we heard as friends and coworkers came to pay their respects.  Thank you all for all the cards to her, she was always amazed how many people she didn't know, would take time to send a greeting to cheer her and lift her spirits.  Thank you for all the cards for us, the food, the prayers, the love, and support.  We know, as did Lynette, that a wonderful church family is always there when you need them.  God knows when and who to send, at just the right time.  God bless you all for being a blessing to us.
