MISSION UPDATE: Thank you to all the Vacation Bible School kids who brought cereals and quick-fix foods for the St. Paul’s Food-and-Clothing bank! Charles and Donna Parmer were able to take a trunk load of food to the bank. We appreciate your support!
For our next mission project, we’ll be helping a local girl named Asia Wiggins. Asia suffers from Goodpasture’s Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease that attacks the lungs and kidneys. She has no medical insurance and her bills are piling up. We would like to help by buying gas cards for the family and giving monetary support. To help, make your checks payable to “Faith UMC” and put “Asia” in the memo line. For more information, see page 3 in the August paper newsletter.
For September, we’ll be collecting school supplies for bags for United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). See page 3 in the August paper newsletter for more info.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for bringing your children to Vacation Bible School! We had a great attendance. There were at least forty children on every night of VBS!
Thank you to all the persons who helped, from decorating to station counselors. We could not have made this possible without all your help.
Please start thinking about Sunday School. We would like to see all the children back. We may be in need of one teacher. We’re planning to start on September 13, 2009. Please keep Faith UMC’s children’s Sunday School in your prayers!
ATTENTION VBS DONORS: If you have ANY expenses related to Vacation Bible School, PLEASE turn in your receipts IMMEDIATELY. We are asking that you turn in your receipts even if you don’t wish to be reimbursed for the items you donated. If you need reimbursement, fill out a green check request and attach receipts. Please turn all these items in right away. Thank you!
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL will continue through the summer months at 9am Sunday mornings. We are working through 1 Thessalonians with plenty of material to follow. Early risers? Don’t let your spiritual muscles get flabby over the summer – join us for a lively and thoughtful discussion guaranteed to help keep your eye on the prize!
HELP THOSE IN NEED: The food bank at St. Paul’s UMC is looking for specific items to give to families with children that are home alone while school is out. They’re asking for cereals and microwavable single-serve items (no frozen items, please). Please see page 11 in the August paper newsletter for more information. Thank you!
HAVE YOU NOTICED that the “Faith Church” sign at the intersection is looking pretty bad? It is in need of replacement. The Board of Trustees has been looking into a new sign that would be an attractive addition to the property. The sign which they have decided on contains a professionally-installed lighted message board along with a lighted header that identifies the church. The cost of the new sign would be approximately $4,100. If you are in a position to give a portion, or all, of the cost as an honorarium or a memorial gift, see Brian Rhodes, our Trustee Chairperson, about the possibility of sharing in this way of keeping our property inviting and appealing to the neighborhood. This would be a very important and worthwhile contribution.
