Faith United Methodist Preschool
("Faith Preschool")
Faith Preschool was founded over 35 years ago by a group of Christian
women at Faith United Methodist Church. Following in that tradition, our
teachers and aides are Christian women. We are a preschool committed to
the teaching of love and kindness expressed by the work of God.
Our programs are fun and exciting! We understand the importance of
learning through play, which includes touching, tasting, smelling and
observing. You will see the children busy at free play in the large
muscle play area, learning to follow directions, making goopy things,
cooking, measuring and sharing, but most importantly, you will see the
children learning to love and accept others and learning the love of
God.
Our four-year-olds meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (9:00-11:30 and
12:30-3:00). We mentor with the Twinsburg schools' kindergartens
throughout the year. Some of our program themes are social studies,
science, reading readiness, motor skills, emotion and social
development. We also work on problem solving, upper and lower case
letters, phonetic sounds and sight words. Our activities include field
trips outside of the school and parent participation programs.
Sometimes we get loud and sometimes we get messy. The children have fun
while learning.
Our three-year-olds meet Tuesdays and Thursdays (9:00-11:30 and
12:30-3:00). The three-year-olds must be potty-trained by the start of
the school term. We teach the love of Jesus through music, stories and
plays. The three-year-olds program is structured. Our objective is to
create trust, sharing, social awareness and maturity through daily
activities. Children should feel good about themselves. We teach them
to separate from mom, put their toys away, and to behave in a group.
They learn to have self-discipline and simple manners. We work to build
large and small muscle coordination. We also have crafts and a table
filled with fine motor skill activities. They learn to pray for
themselves and others. Because three-year-olds are still unsure about
new places, our "field trips" visit us at school.
We have visitors from the fire and police departments, clowns, magicians
and storytellers. The children's librarian from Twinsburg Library comes
in each month. We have animals visit, too!
Each classroom has a teacher and an aide. There is also an aide that
assists us in taking the children to the potty, working with large
muscle play and will assist us in the event of an emergency.
Parents are welcome to the school each day. Our parents participate as
room parents for planning and conducting parties. We also have parent
participation programs. We have a mom's night, dad's night, Baby Jesus
night and lunch with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
We also have a summer preschool enrichment program. We work on
kindergarten readiness as well as have summer fun. We do units such as
oceans, pirates, bugs, animals and science experiments that were not
done in preschool. The program runs three days a week from 9:00-12:00
for four weeks. The children bring their lunches.
We have no fundraisers but we occasionally have programs for others in
need. We voluntarily support our church and other churches' ministry
programs such as the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, and the
Lighthouse of Hope.
