A Thought for the Day

Jesus said, “When you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.  And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you.                                    (Luke 14:13-14)

Jesus talks about inviting the people who cannot do anything for you to the banquet that you give, and about the importance of having a genuine relationship with God which works itself out in a genuine relationship with all of those people whom Jesus truly loves, for whom Jesus died, including all those people who are not like you, those people who don’t look like you, those people who don’t act like you.

When we accept Jesus in our life, he will teach us how to do good, and how to invite the poor, and the least, and the hurt, and the suffering, offering to them a love and a compassion and a care and a kindness that is uplifting and healing and blessing.  Jesus will teach us how to share what God has given us with those people who are just as much in need as we are, but who in society may seem very different from us.

Jesus will teach us how to be a blessing to people, knowing that the only thing that matters is that we are one with Jesus forever, and that for us, with Jesus, the resurrection is already a reality.  Rejoice, Share, and Praise God.
