Faith United Methodist
Church is an inclusive church and our common mission
is to proclaim Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We
recognize that we are stronger
as a group than we are as individuals and further we are called to witness to
the Gospel
and serve the needy. We have a covenant relationship with a United
Methodist missionary in Tunisia. She works with women and children,
teaching them about Jesus in a country that is 97% muslim.
In September we collected 200 pairs of new shoes to send to an
orphanage in Tunisia, North Africa, where our covenant missionary works.
Pray that these shoes will arrive at their destination with no mishaps,
and that the children will begin to learn by this outpouring of love by
strangers on the other side of the world that Jesus loves them too.
This church responded immediately to the emergency need for "Flood
Buckets" after the devastation of Hurricane Isabel. We prepared eight
five-gallon buckets with cleaning supplies. These will be distributed by
UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief).
Plan now to participate in our annual November Harvest Home collection
of non-perishable foods for needy families in our immediate area. Last
year we provided all the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner for nine
families, in addition to other foods given to PATH House and the Soup
Kitchen.
Also coming up is our "Undie Sundays" campaign. We suggest that on a
cold, wet winter day you go out shopping without any socks on. As you
experience the wet cold, purchase warm new socks and underwear to be given
to the Women’s Resource Center. Our first campaign last December was a big
success and the Center was very grateful.
