The Fairlawn Quilt Tackers started in the summer of 1998. The Evansville District of
the United Methodist Women were asking for single bed quilts for a new dorm that was
being built in Henderson Settlement. This is a Methodist Mission in the hills
of Kentucky that serves the poor of the region.
We made five quilts for them and enjoyed making them so much, we decided
to continue and make it a mission work.
In a period of two years, we have made over 85 quilts. Our recipients include:

- United Methodist Youth Home
- Evansville Rescue Mission
- Area Nursing Residents
- Our own Day Care families
- Habitat for Humanity
- Area foster care program
- Albion Bacon Fellows Center for Abused Women and Children
- Henderson Settlement
- House of Bread and Peace
- Coalition for the Homeless
- Auctions for fund raisers
- and many others....
There are always quilts made or in the process of being made, ready to be given to
someone in need. Our quilts are not museum pieces. They are made to share the love of God and are given in the name of Jesus.
