WEEKLY SERMON NOTES AND STUDY GUIDE NOW AVAILABLE

Have you followed the sermon with the Study Guide? Have you looked at the Study Guide that accompanies each week's message? Dr. McClanahan now includes a Sermon Notes &Study Guide each week. The purpose of the Sermon Notes is to enable the congregation to follow the track of the sermon and have an opportunity to highlight some of the points for further reflection. On the other side is a Study Guide, which suggests some of the biblical passages that support the sermon. Thought provoking questions are listed with each scripture reference. In addition to providing a way to follow the sermon more closely the Sermon Notes & Study Guide can be the basis of a common congregational Bible study. The Study Guide has a section for Monday through Friday. Imagine the power of God's Word pulsing through the church when we're literally "on the same page" for meditation and prayer. Included in this issue of Quester are two recent Sermon Notes & Study Guides. Watch for them in each week's bulletin. Bring them home to focus your daily scripture and prayer times.

PREVIOUS WORSHIP THEMES

UNDER GOD: Faith and the Social Issues of Our Time
Sermon Series Begins on January 12th
"Under God: Faith and the Social Issues of Our Time" is a new sermon series that begins just two weeks after Christmas. It will offer some "timely and timeless Christian perspectives on some of today's tough issues."

Dr. McClanahan is preparing the series for members of our congregation with an eye toward persons in the community, at-large, who struggle with "issues of identity, independence, and solid foundations for successful living."

In order to extend a personal invitation to friends, special announcement flyers will be included in the Christmas worship programs. In addition, persons who are near neighbors of the church will receive a program listing in the mail.

       The topics include:

  •        January 12 - "There's Something About That Name" (Under God)
  •        January 19 - "Moral Foundations & Personal Priorities"
  •        January 26 - "Shaping A New Generation" (Commitment to the Children)
  •        February 2 - "A Mutual Admiration Society" (Building Community)
  •        February 9 - "Being Neighborly" (Social Justice)
  •        February 16 - "Can't We All Just Get Along?" (War and Peace)
