EUMC FAIR FOOD BOOTH

The committe held its wrap up meeting Feb 16, 2004.

The financial outcome was reviewed by Jerry Bacon and reported a profit of slightly more than last year.

After much consideration by your board, the profits were allocated as follows:

1) ELLENTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Trustees for urgent maintenance needs of our buildings

2) The CRISWELLS; Our church sponsored missionaries;

3) HEIFER INTERNATIONAL

4) ANCHOR HOUSE( Manatee Port missions)

5) HOPE FAMILY SERVICES( Manatee battered womens)

We thank all the 210 volunteers that so generously donated 3091 hours this year to make these donations possible.

Our  Fair Appreciation Pot Luck dinner was attened by about 75 persons on Feb 25th in the CLC Bldg. We, again, wish to thank all of you who participated in this worthwhile project this year. The response was terrific and the fun and fellowship was great as well!

                             BEHIND THE SCENES

"Sonny" is a native Ellentonian, born in the neigborhood and is a ifetime member of Ellenton United Methodist Church.He was a Sunday School teacher and Church Superintendent most of 1950 - 1960 when many youth attended our church.He was one of the first three men from our church to ever attend the newly organized "Men's Retreat" in Leesburg, Florida.Sonny was also a  member of the Methodist Board of Stewards for many years and often delivered sermons in the pastor's absence and on Layman's Day. He helped organize, and was a member of, "The Missionaries"- the first Men's Quartet from our church.They sang in various churches in our district to raise money for missions, especially for the missionary, Jimmy Wiggins, whom our church supported.

 Sonny is currently our song-leader during Sunday worship services, sings  in the Chancel Choir and serves as meeting chairman and delegate for the Board of Trustees.He and his wife, Georgia-born Betty, were married in 1949 and were blessed with 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren.

Betty manages our church Flower Calendar for the altar arrangements and orders special Christmas and Easter flowers.She also volunteers her time assisting the Financial Secretary in counting and depositing the Sunday offerings each week.year the busy couple also found time to volunteer their services at our Manatee County Fair Booth as evening shift managers.Both Sonny and Betty work at the local "Earth Box" store where Sonny teaches classes to the public about the unique gardening system.

 We are grateful and fortunate for this family's dedication to this church. Thank you both for your many hours of service!
