Basic Lay Speaking Wraps Up
Seven Trinity members will complete the United Methodist Basic Lay Speaker’s training on May 4.
Revs. Pamela and Brian Nelson-Munson led this wonderful class. Students learned about the various components of worship, and how to plan a service. We practiced reading Scripture and sharing original thoughts in front of the group and received very helpful feedback, not only from Revs. Pamela and Brian, but also from Ralph Steadman, who joined us at the first class and shared his expertise in public speaking.
We also learned about other aspects of Lay Leadership, including visiting the homebound and sharing the Gospel.
Besides the Trinity folks, students from Florence UMC and Eugene Wesley attended the class. Be sure to congratulate new Lay Speakers Rick Ramsey, Toni Cleland, Pat Rankin, Mike Peterson, Nicole Kiser, Larry Merrill, and Amanda Wooldridge. Thanks to Revs. Pamela and Brian for sharing their wisdom and making this class so much fun!
C.A.M.P. is Back!
Trinity’s Children’s Choir, or CAMP, is rehearsing again for their next performance!
The children will sing during worship on Sunday, June 8, which is also Choir Sunday. Rehearsals will be held over the next month.
Lisa Oxman is leading this performance and is teaching the children an original composition that she created.
New Circle Plans in Motion!
The United Methodist Women of Trinity are very pleased to announce the formation of a brand-new evening circle!
This circle is for women who, because of work or other schedule conflicts, cannot attend the two circles that are held during the day.
So what will this new circle do? That is up to the members! Toni Cleland will facilitate the first meeting. Each month, a circle member will lead a program. The members of the group will select program topics, so the first meeting will be dedicated to getting better acquainted and discussing ideas for future program topics.
We will provide child care for evening circle meetings! Light finger foods will also be served.
Stay tuned to your weekly Welcome News for more information about this first circle meeting!
Breakfast Guest
Trinity’s men had a special guest at breakfast this month!
Sherry Bierwirth, executive assistant for the University of Oregon Wesley Foundation, joined the men for breakfast on Thursday, May 1.
Sherry shared stories from time she spent as a missionary in Nepal working with orphans.
All men of Trinity are invited to the monthly breakfast. Questions? Call Paul Lewis at 688-4508.

There are a few tasks that need to be done before the start of VBS, so if you’ve always wanted to help but not been able to due to work conflicts, this is your chance!

Summer Fun at Trinity!
In spite of our April snow, summer is coming! Our Member Care/Outreach and Worship Committees are hard at work planning a variety of fun activities to take advantage of the warm weather.
· Summer barbecues - a few folks have volunteered to host summer potluck barbecues at their home. We would like to hold one of these each month throughout the summer. If you would like to host one, please contact the church office.
· Outdoor movie - last year’s outdoor movie for our children and youth was a huge success! This year we will offer a film for everyone!
· Outdoor service - this Trinity tradition is always a favorite event and will happen in July.
· Aloha Service - dust off your muu-muus for our annual Polynesian service and potluck.
· ?? - do you have any ideas for a summer event? If so, contact the church office!
Adopt a Space!
In October, Trinity will host Bishop Robert Hoshibata during worship as we celebrate our 60th anniversary. That means it’s time to tidy up - company’s coming!
In May, you will have an opportunity to pluck a leaf from the Trinity tree. Leaves will contain areas around the church that you can “adopt.” By adopting a room, flowerbed, or other area, you are committing to maintain it from May - October.
Look for more information and for the Trinity tree during worship services in May!
Reserve Your Spot Now!
In June, Trinity will transform into the rainforest as we host Vacation Bible School.
Reserve your child’s spot at VBS now. Signup sheets are in the Fellowship Hall each Sunday. For more information, call Toni at 688-3269.
