Women’s Retreat

26 Trinity women gathered at Suttle Lake United Methodist Camp for the weekend of October 9-11 for the ninth annual Women’s Retreat.

Rev. Pamela led the women through three sessions exploring what it means to Touch the Reign of God. Program Director Toni Cleland had organized the event with a planning team.  Lisa Oxman helped with body exercises that tied into the theme. Worship, singing, small group gatherings, and journaling were part of          each session.

Next year’s retreat will be held at the same location on the second weekend of October. All women of Trinity are invited to come to this memorable time.

FISH Needs Our Help!

This is a letter from the F.I.S.H. Board (Friends in Service to Humanity).  We have a food cupboard that furnishes emergency food baskets to the needy people in our community.  The first Sunday of the month is Trinity’s day for contributing food or money.

This is a request or plea for volunteers to help (two hours/week) putting up food baskets.  We are short-handed and need some substitutes to fill in.  Contact Floyd or Shirley Carpenter or call 688-3482 for more information.  Thank you for your support.

The Parable of the   Trinity Talents

Have you ever thought that your presence at Trinity is like the Parable of the Talents?

As each of us came into membership, we promised to support Trinity with our Prayers, our Presence,  our Gifts, and our Service.  As we look back at the end of each year, what are the ways we can point to that Trinity has increased because of our stewardship?

Trinity is a very special gift in all of our lives. It is a beacon in the community.  People come here for meetings, memorial services, the Bazaar, Preschool, and in their search for a faith community.

In the next few weeks, we will be hearing about the “how” and “now” of our individual support.  Especially in this economy, we need to be especially vigilant in not letting this precious gift  of our Church falter.

Mark your calendar for Sunday, November 22, when our Boy Scout Troop will provide all of the members with a free Celebration Brunch, immediately following our Worship service. Please join us.

Adult Bible Study Continues

Our Fall Adult Bible Study class is off to a great start!  Led by Jerry Holloway, the class meets on Tuesdays at 7:00 pm in the Fireside Room.  Jerry is leading a study encompassing passages from Joshua, Judges, Ezra,    Nehemiah, Mark, First and Second Peter.  All Trinity folks and friends are invited!

Prayer Shawls -   A Caring Ministry

Did you know that there are a group of Trinity women sharing their talents and prayers in a very tangible way?

Each week, Trinity’s Prayer Shawl Ministry meets to knit or crochet shawls.  The shawls go to members and friends who are experiencing bereavement, recovering from surgery or illness, or dealing with a new life challenge, such as childbirth.

Shawls are not just for women!  Our clever crafters create a prayer lap blanket that can be given to men.

So far, the group has handed out 27 shawls and lap blankets.  The recipients have all been very touched and pleased to receive such a special gift from their church family.

You can be a part of this very special ministry in several ways - attend our Prayer Shawl group, which meets on Thursdays at 1:30 pm at Lorraine Robinson’s home; create shawls at home if your schedule doesn’t allow you to attend the meeting; or donate materials if you are not a knitter.

Please keep this ministry and its participants in your prayers!  Be sure to let us know who you know who would be blessed by a prayer shawl.

The Phoebes Are Born!

The UMW Evening Circle finally has a name!  The Phoebes will meet the third Tuesday of every month, at 6:30 pm in the Fireside Room.  Light snacks and child care are provided.

This new circle will focus on women’s issues that are important to the 21st century woman who is trying to have it all and be everything for everyone.  All women are invited!

Did You Know?

Trinity’s women are still knitting!  Our prayer shawl ministry knitting group meets on Thursdays at 1:00 pm at Lorraine   Robinson’s home.  All women are invited!  For more information call Lorraine at 689-3677.

Magazines Needed!

Help keep Trinity’s magazine rack full!  Leave donated magazines by the rack across from the Fireside Room.

What’s the $20 Club?

The $20 Club is for the development of a dream a church has.

We have a dream.  At Gold Hill UMC, our dream is to have a Sanctuary more easily accessible for the handicapped by adding a ramp, elevator, and a Sanctuary level bathroom.

     Do you have a dream?

Developing a kitchen to feed the   homeless.

Are you sitting in a puddle?  Your roof   might need repair.

Indoor swimming pool - you may need new

  plumbing.

Septic system out?  We won’t go there!

The $20 Club begins to fulfill dreams and helps with needed repairs.  This is a way we as individuals can reach out and help other churches in the district meet their needs and dreams.    This money can only be used for repairs and improvements to a church or parsonage.         Any church in our district is eligible to apply for these funds.

We’re asking for $20 from each of you.  Looking at this a different way...it is 6 cents a day.  If you look at your budget and truly can’t afford this, then $10 would be appreciated!

Please make checks payable to Southern District Church Extension Society and send them to Shirley Holzinger, Treasurer, P.O. Box 849, Grants Pass, OR  97528.
