Vision from 9/11/06 Church (Charge) Council: Reaching out in God’s love to make disciples for Christ.

Reflection: The restructuring of the leadership team is different thus lending its self to our vision (Form A-I. a & b)

Rev. Poland shared Conference emphasis:

1)      Hospitality focus – welcoming, our response to those who come

2)      Making disciples – spiritual growth

3)      New leadership – raising up & equipping leaders

4)      Transformation of the world – projects done together, missions

Use these four areas for council & committee work.

In 2007 what gives hope & encouragement?

-         New couples attending

-         Encouraging young high school members to look at schools with Wesley foundation, scholarship information

-         Outreach to present college students (more than we realized)

Chair SPRC, Jane C. identified items for approval from committee:

-         Total gross Pastoral compensation, $33,249; approved

-         Housing exclusion after discussion was raised from $5,000 to $6,000; seconded by Tom D., approved (one No vote)

-         Minimal equitable salary asked for 25% at this level for 2007 would be $8,312.25 (Conf. committee decision by the end of Jan. awarded July 1st)

Rev. Poland explained Conference provides for a maximum of 5 years to congregations working toward providing a full-time pastor.  This congregation has experienced a unique situation over the past 4 years. Within the denomination our connectional system allows us to celebrate & support through apportionments. This is an example of such support.

Pastor Corby brings amended copies of leadership team from nominations that will be printed in the Newsletter for distribution.  Karl read slate of new members and motion to accept, Jane seconded, carried.  Rev. Poland suggested by October of each year sending a letter to committee members with notification that your term is ending & a thank you for service. This could help keep dates clarified.

As a follow-up Sunday, January 21st all committees will meet after worship for planning session.

Motion to adjourn by Jane, second Donna, approved.
