Epworth United Methodist Church is located in the small, rural town of Thaxton, Virginia. Just four miles west of Bedford, and twenty-three miles east of Roanoke. The land was donated in 1908 and the first church building was erected on it in 1909. In 1962, the cornerstone was laid for the current building. In 1968, the Thaxton Community Center building was completed through a joint efforts between Epworth United Methodist Church and Thaxton Baptist Church.
