  • Saturday, July 28, 2007 -- Dedication of Kiki's Court
Kiki McBride grew up at ELUMC, until her untimely death in 2005 at age 14. In her memory, and to serve the kids of the neighborhood, an 8x16' mural will be unveiled, ELUMC's decrepit basketball hoops will be replaced with a quality hoop and striping for a half-court will be added to the newly re-paved parking lot.
Dedication activities on the 28th included music, speakers, and of course, hoops!
Photos of the preparation and dedication are posted here and here.
If you want to get acquainted with Kiki as she was memorialized in music and photos, you can find a loving presentation of her life here

  • Saturday, April 21, 2007 -- Earth Day Neighborhood Cleanup [Gallery], 9-noon
Wow! From Stevens to Sprague, from North 8th to South 8th, a hundred volunteers left the neighborhood much better than they found it! -- Through 2008 & 2009, the event grew to cover far more of the 6th Ave. corridor.
