There is a Public Education Crisis in Pennsylvania

What is Good Schools Pennsylvania ?

Good Schools Pennsylvania is a non-profit coalition of grassroots, statewide and national organizations seeking to mobilize parents, students and concerned citizens to advocate for comprehensive public education reform this legislative session. Comprehensive public education reform must include:

  • A system that ensures adequate funds are equitably distributed to every district;

  • The implementation of quality education principles that are proven to boost student performance; and

  • The establishment of an accountability system to reward schools that improve and consequences for those that have persistently poor performance.

How Are We Going to Transform Pennsylvania Schools?

The changes that are necessary to improve schools will occur when we all join together and persuade civic leaders and elected officials to expand funding, reform the funding distribution formula, pass a set of common sense standards for excellence and institute the accountability measures necessary for every child to succeed. Good Schools Pennsylvania is establishing 1,000 Groups of 10, 10,000 new citizen advocates, to demand quality public education. The campaign provides Groups of 10 with information on the challenges of funding and quality in public education as well as the opportunities that local residents have to affect these issues. The groups of 10 meet once a month, learn about the issues and write letters to their State Representative, State Senator or Pennsylvania leader.
