Church and Society Work Team Peace with Justice Grants

The annual Peace with Justice offering is evenly divided between the Peace with Justice fund administered by the general church and the EPA Church and Society work team. The funds that remain in our annual conference are dispersed in two ways.

1. Program Grants: Programs or projects fitting the guidelines established by the Church and Society Work Team can apply for grants of up to $2,000 per calendar year. The next deadline for grant submissions is October 31, 2008.  Please note that Volunteer in Mission trips cannot be considered. Applications and guidelines are available by following the link Church/Organization Guidelines or by contacting Rev. Carolene Brubaker, at either 610-692-5190 or cbrubaker@westchesterumc.com.

2. Individual Scholarships: Individual scholarships are available for those attending peace with justice training events. Scholarship funds are available for up to 50% of the cost of the event with a maximum grant of $500. Applications are handled on a rolling basis. For more information follow the link INDIVIDUALGuidelines for Peace with Justice Grants.pdf or contact Rev. Carolene Brubaker at cbrubaker@westchesterumc.com or (610) 692-5190.

Peace with Justice Sunday - Background: Peace with Justice Sunday, observed annually on the Sunday after Pentecost, is intended to be a time to "witness to God's demand for a faithful, just, disarmed, and secure world." As provided by the Discipline, the Peace with Justice offering is evenly divided between the Peace and Justice (PwJ) fund administered by the General Board of Church and Society, and the Annual Conference Peace and Justice fund.

Peace with Justice Sunday is to be celebrated "preferably on the first Sunday after Pentecost." Therefore, Peace with Justice Sunday will be officially observed on June 3,2007; but some churches choose other times to observe Peace with Justice Sunday.
