.7 NELLIE RED OWL- As an elder of the Oglola Sioux tribe, Nellie Red Owl has carried on an immense struggle to keep her tradition from being destroyed and absorbed into another culture. She is convinced that her native land and traditions must never again be compromised.

.8 GLENORA YOUNG SAYERS- Glenora Sayers has been a leader among elders in understanding the value and urgency of making themselves available to children. The simple act of keeping a diary has rewarded her life.
