.1 METHODIST CAMP MEETINGS- In the early 1800's rustic Methodist campgrounds sprang up from Kentucky to New England. They were the setting for countless revivals marked by firebrand preaching, hymn-singing, and emotional testifying. Many camp meeting sites matured into soul-restoring retreats.

.2 PURITAN NEW ENGLAND- In Hingham, Massachusetts, there is a Congregational Meeting House named "The Old Ship." Built in 1881, it is a unique link to the era of the Pilgrims, the Puritans, and the early Quakers. Included are the stories of Anne Hutchinson, Roger Williams, and the Salem Witch Trials. It takes us on a journey that goes from Plymouth Rock to the American Revolution.

.3 CATHOLIC MARYLAND- Maryland was the first English province in the New World to offer religious tolerance to all, so it was a natural destination for persecuted English Catholics. The strong tradition of social justice fostered by American Catholics seems to flow from the steps of the great Basilica of the Assumption in Baltimore, the oldest Catholic Cathedral in America. Elizabeth Ann Seton's work with children and the career of Archbishop James Gibbons are featured.

.4 LATTER-DAY SAINTS: BEGINNINGS- The early history of the Latter-day Saints is a saga of violent persecution and migration as Joseph Smith and the faithful searched for a place to practice their religion in peace. The Mormons built Nauvoo ("beautiful city") on a bluff above the Mississippi River in Illinois. Mob violence by outsiders and the murder of Joseph Smith forced the Mormons to move to Salt Lake City to a place of peace at last.

.5 CHRIST CHURCH--PHILADELPHIA- Christ Church is considered the "Mother Church" of America's Protestant Episcopal Church. It is also referred to as "our nation's church." This was the church of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, providing a direct link to the faith that inspired the founders of the United States.

.7 THE SHAKERS- In the late 1700's, the Shakers established one of the best-known Utopian movements in the history of the United States. Visiting villages in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts and upstate New York, we learn about the fundamentals of Shaker worship, their lifestyle, and elegant simplicity of design.

.8 AMERICA'S FIRST SYNAGOGUES- This video is the dramatic story of the Jewish pilgrims who founded congregation Shearith Israel--"A Remnant of Israel"--in 1654 in the Dutch trading post of New Amsterdam (New York). Woven through this tale are fascinating characters: Haym, who helped finance the American Revolution; a naval commodore who saved Monticello from ruin, and Emma Lazarus, poet of immigrants.

.9 THE PRESBYTERIANS AND PRINCETON- This is the story of early Presbyterians who came to America and founded colleges--beginning with Princeton--and carried their influence to all parts of the growing nation. Included are visionaries from John Witherspoon to Woodrow Wilson, whose ideal of faith intertwined with learning has so profoundly shaped our world.

.10 THE HERITAGE OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN WORSHIP- This is the dramatic story of the African-American church in America from Boston's African Meeting House (1804) to Birmingham and Montgomery in the 1960's. It tells about Richard Allen, who founded the African Methodist Episcopal Church and Absalom Jones, who became America's first ordained African-American clergyman. Their vision showed the courage and community that combined African spirituality with the Christian message of liberation.

.11 RUSSIAN ORTHODOX ALASKA- The video tells the story of St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Sitka, in the old Russian colony now known as Alaska. Father Ivan Veniaminov used his energy and intelligence to bridge the diverse Russian and Tlingit cultures. It tells of Father Herman, an ascetic monk who spoke with angels and commanded a tidal wave to be calm.

.12 HISTORIC AMERICAN CATHEDRALS- Catholic, Protestant, and Eastern Orthodox cathedrals occupy places of honor in cities across America. This program majestically features several of these cathedrals from San Antonio to New York City.

.13 CATHOLIC CHURCHES OF OLD NEW MEXICO- Catholic churches in New Mexico reveal the heritage of two very different cultures--Catholic settlers from Mexico and Spain and the Pueblo Indians.
