This DVD kit contains materials from Interfaith Power and Light for a “Global Warming” Event.  The Interfaith organization works with congregations to educate people of faith about the important issue of reducing global warming pollution.  It also includes a discussion guide for “An Inconvenient Truth,” a DVD based on Al Gore’s book.  The DVD may be rented for this program from Paramount or other video sources.


    .1    LIGHTEN UP - (20 min.) Sally Bingham, an Episcopal priest who founded The Regeneration Project, challenges viewers to fulfill their Christian moral responsibility to do everything in their power to combat global warming.  Bingham shows evidence from tropical seashore to Alaskan glaciers of the disaster that global warming can be as burning fossil fuels upsets the balance of nature

Several of the most learned scientists from America’s prestigious universities guide the viewer through a statistical tour of the terrible disasters that are increasing in America and throughout the world because of global warming.  They show how thousands of people have been killed because of the increasing number of serious heat waves.  They challenge individuals, cities, states, and the national government to get behind measures dealing with the “greenhouse effect.”  They also show that positive things are happening in areas in which the challenges are being met.

             Over one billion people lack access to clean water, resulting in the deaths of millions each year, and most are children.  Living Waters for the World, the mission project of the Synod of Living Water, Presbyterian Church (USA), trains and equips mission teams to share the gift of clean, sustainable water with communities in need.  Viewers are encouraged to lend support to this very worthwhile project.
