VCJ-307 CHRISTIAN PARABLES FROM SCIENCE SERIES- (E/JH); 2 Videos; Guide; Logos Productions, 1996.

Uses science experiments to generate spiritual messages. Deane Hutton, writer-presenter of the children's science and technology program, "Curiosity Show", presents the science demonstrations directly to the camera so that they can be used as self-contained stories for a class. Each is presented with a passage from Scripture which supports the Christian message. Some topics included are: faith, nature of God, new life in Christ, and Christian living.

VCJ-308 OBJECT LESSONS - "FARM SERIES" - SEEDS, FRUIT, DIRT with Jim Bergwall- (E); 29-30 min. ea.; Guide; Gospel Films, 1992, 94, 95. Also available on DVJ-308.1 - .3.

The videos take us down to the farm to learn some object lessons from the teachings of Jesus.

1. SEEDS (29 min.) tells all about seeds--on the farm and in Jesus's stories. Jim Bergwall cleverly illustrates the Parable of the Sower. Jesus uses the seed as a symbol to show how God's Word can grow in the heart and mind of the believer. Jesus talks about the importance of scattering the seeds so that His Word can be spread to others.

2. DIRT (30 min.)- Jim Bergwall looks at three different ways Jesus used dirt to provide insights. He tells Bible stories involving dirt and illustrates different kinds of soil. The Parable of the Soils is brought to life for children.

3. FRUIT (30 min.)- The viewer finds out some secrets of delicious fruit and what it takes to grow it. Jim Bergwall shows how grafting is done, illustrating what it means for Jesus to abide in us.

VCJ-309 THE GREAT STORYTELLER from The Visual Bible Series- (E); 30 min.; Videos with Values, 1998.

A substitute Sunday School teacher (Frank Perretti) introduces his class to a very real Jesus, who is loving and laughing. Includes segments from The Visual Bible and words from the NIV Gospel of Matthew. Stories included are "Healing of the Leper", "Feeding the 5,000," "Jesus calming the Storm," and "Walking on the Water."

VCJ-310 BEATITUDES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE Series- (J/JH); 3 videos, 15 min. ea.; Guide; Videos with Values, 1998.

The videos use the image of a braided circle in which each strand points to one way to happiness. Through a story, boys and girls exemplify beatitude living in different situations. Each beatitude is then explored through the response of one of the characters in the story. Children are challenged to discover ways to live the beatitudes in their everyday lives.

PT The parent/teacher video of the series offers questions, projects, and activities for engaging middle grade students in exploring the Beatitudes. The video also reminds adult viewers of opportunities for Beatitude living in their own lives.

This video helps students think of practical ways to live the Beatitudes. Jimmy thinks the Beatitudes are too hard to understand, but when he dozes off, an angel helps him see how some of his classmates are already living the Beatitudes. He makes a commitment to live the Beatitudes in his own life.

These animated stories of Jesus are geared for 4-6-year-old children. The programs cover The First Christmas, Jesus the Storyteller, Jesus the Miracle-Worker, Jesus the Healer, and The First Easter.

This series for young children highlights events in the life of Jesus.

This beautifully animated video tells the legend of a lovely olive tree, a knotty oak tree, and a strong pine tree with high hopes and dreams. Each dream is fulfilled as each tree is given a part in the life story of Jesus. One becomes a manger; one becomes a fishing boat; and one becomes a cross. Viewers learn the significance of their role in God's plan.

The video includes brief episodes of many of the stories of Jesus. Some of the stories are done as animated flashbacks. A dynamic animated series about the life of Jesus.

.1 THE WOMAN AT THE WELL- Jesus confronts the woman from Samaria and heals a paralyzed boy. Later Jesus learns of the death of John the Baptist.

.2 THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES- The Holy Spirit descends with tongues of fire. Stephen is martyred. Paul is converted and the early church is persecuted.

VCJ-319 GOSPEL ALIVE - (E/JH); 4 videos, 15 min. ea.; Videos with Values, 2005.

This series was created to help parents and teachers bring home to children fundamental Christian values, based on familiar Gospel passages. By seeing these stories dramatized and discussed through the perspective of young people, children will be able to understand and put into practice the values they represent.

.1 JESUS FACES TEMPTATION - Video One is based on Matthew 4:1-11. It begins with one of the young people, Jamie, telling about a situation in which he was temped by another boy to steal from a classmate. As the story unfolds, the similarities to the kinds of temptation children face on a daily basis become apparent, and the result is a discussion led by Marita, the youth minister. As a help to young people in resolving Jamie's dilemma, Marita relates the Gospel story and leads a conversation about its meaning for them. There are questions to help the viewers participate.

.2 THE MAN WHO COULD NOT SEE - Video Two is based on John 9:1-41. Michael tells the story of the new boy in class who seems different from everyone else. At first, all the young people can see the differences, never dreaming that someone their own age could come from a very different reality from their own. Marita, youth minister, with the help of the Gospel story, helps them see through the externals and to come up with a strategy for celebrating Tino's birthday.

.3 THE MUSTARD SEED - Video Three is based on Mark 4:26-33. In this episode, one of the young people, Carly, becomes aware of a neighbor who is getting older and less capable of tending to his garden. Carly is anxious to be of help, but the difficulty she faces is finding a way to help without diminishing Mr. Taylor's self-esteem or dignity. After listening to Carly's minister, Marita, the young people come up with a strategy that allows them to be helpful to Mr. Taylor and learn some valuable lessons from him as well.

.4 THE FORGIVING FATHER - Video Four is based on Luke 15:11-32. In this video, Gina shares an incident in which her younger sister had spent her lunch money on candy, skipped lunch and then got caught eating the candy in class. Embarrassed, she did not get on the bus after school and caused her parents to worry for hours. When her parents forgive her younger sister, Gina is really upset. When she sees this event in the light of the Gospel story, she begins to understand the need for forgiveness and reconciliation.
