FOR CHILDREN and YOUTH, The resource books in this section are useful for resourcing all of the topics listed below. They should be especially helpful for those teachers who are using the Rotation Model Workshop style of teaching. The letter (T) indicates books for teachers. RBP-1 THE GIVING TREE by Shel Silverstein; (C/A); Harper Collins, 1964. Shel Silverstein has created a moving parable about the gift of giving and the acceptance of another’s capacity to love in return. RBP-2 NATTY'S HOMEMADE APPLE WALNUT FRIENDSHIP BREAD by Cliff Aerie- Illustrator: Roxana Villa; (E) United Church of Christ, 2002. A group of Children's stories about friendship--from fantasy to a real-life story. It incudes the recipe for friendship bread. RBR-1 WORD AND PICTURE BOOK SERIES by Carol Wehrheim; Illustrator: Betsy James; (Pre/K); United Church Press, 1997. A series of board books for small children with simple stories and colorful illustrations which help children to know about God. A JESUS, A SPECIAL BABY- A simple story of the birth of Jesus based on Luke 2:1-20. B JESUS GOES FISHING- The story of the calling of Peter and Andrew and the miracle of the fish nets based on Luke 5:1-11. A book of simple songs from the Psalms for little children. Includes accompaniment for piano and guitar. RBS-2 THE FESTIVAL OF ART by Gerard A. Pottenbaum; illustrated by Ken Roberts; (K/Pri); Augsburg Publishing House, 1971. The story of an artist father who provided drawing materials for his three young children. Two of the children drew pictures, but the third child was, at first, afraid to try. When his father persuaded him to try, he met with success. |
