The El Segundo United Methodist Church is much like any other institution struggling with the current economic realities. The current members pledges to the General Fund is $193,000, which projects a net deficit of $33,000. $226,000 is the projected Current Expense (General Fund) money needed to meet the basic obligations of our Church. As Church members we need to understand that only the donation of unspecified money goes to fund current expenses. A quick look at our weekly giving envelopes offers 5 choices for giving. Any donation other than to current expense goes to those dedicated accounts and cannot be used to cover the above mentioned deficit expenses.
Unlike business or our government we do not borrow from dedicated funds to balance our general fund.
Like all of us the Budget Committee has looked for ways to decrease the budget and will continue to evaluate expenses.
With the current economic challenges it is difficult to ask all of us to give more, however if you are not funding current expense your church could use your help. If you have not made a yearly pledge it is not too late! Any amount you can pledge helps to insure that will meet our budget obligations.
Members of the Finance and Budget Committee would be happy to meet with any of you to discuss your thoughts and suggestions.

Please, if you do any shopping at Ralphs take just a few minutes to register your Ralph Rewards card to support our church. If you don't yet have a Ralphs REWARDS card, they are available at most check outs or at the customer service desk at any Ralphs. Also, if you were previously signed up, please re-register so we continue to receive a percentage of your purchases. They've made the registration much more cumbersome but it is an easy way for us to earn money once you register your Rewards card. We currently have only 5 members signed up and earned about $40 last quarter.

1.Click on Sign In/Register
2.Click on SIGN UP TODAY in the ‘New Customer?’ box (unless you're already have an account, in that case, just sign in and go to step 5 below.)
3.Sign up for a Ralphs Account by entering zip code, clicking on favorite store, entering your email address and creating a password, agreeing to the terms and conditions
4.You will then get a message to check your email inbox and click on the link within the body of the email.
5.Click on My Account and use your email address and password to proceed to the next step.
6.Click on Edit Community Contribution information and input your Ralphs REWARDS card number.
7.Update or confirm your information.
8. Enter NPO number 80626 and click on Confirm.
To verify you are enrolled correctly, you will see your organization’s name on the right side of your information page.
REMEMBER, purchases will not count for our church until after you register your card(s).

Members must swipe their registered Ralphs REWARDS card or use the phone number that is related to their registered Ralphs REWARDS card when shopping for each purchase to count.
When you have registered for El Segundo United Methodist Church, it will show on your accounts page and on the bottom of each cash register receipt when you shop at Ralphs.

With a new year underway, our Church has taken strides to “challenge” its members and friends – did you hear and see?? All Sunday School classes are challenged to bring an Offering a little bit larger than the previous Sunday! Aluminum cans count! If you don’t have an extra amount to bring along….grab a can and we’ll recycle it for you! Plus, we’ve earmarked the 4th Sunday School Offering to be saved all year and designated for the Heifer Project this December! The progress will be noted on the Church Bulletin Board outside the Sanctuary. Our Youth is also participating in the Challenge and a second Challenge! The first youth to arrive at the Youth Meeting gets bonus points in their account, redeemable for perks and programs in the near future!
CAN YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE?
We need you! Some areas to help include: Ushers, Liturgists, Coffee Hosts, Greeters, Choir, Bells, Children?s Choir & Acolytes for kids, Sunday School, and more. Call the church office if you can help in any of these areas and we will put you in touch with the right coordinator.
Please consider taking a turn as an usher every few weeks. We could really use your help for this important worship service job.
