About Us

Who Are We?

The Elm Park United Methodist Church, located in the heart of Scranton, attracts members and participants from a wide geographical area. Many organizations use our facility to offer a variety of services to the community. Twelve Step organizations meet here many times during the week. We also host a Montessori School as well as the Scranton District Offices of the Wyoming Annual Conference. Our sanctuary is the site of seasonal concerts and we are a popular venue for the city's First Night celebrations on New Year's Eve.

Our ministry finds expression in a variety of ways. We feed the hungry (we house two food pantries and support a third), clothe the naked (we open a free clothing center once a week to provide for those in need), and bring comfort to the lost and lonely. St. Paul reminds us that each of us is a part of the Body of Christ. Elm Park United Methodist Church is a large organization made up of a number of smaller groups, committees and work areas that strive together to create an atmosphere of shared ministry that benefits all. We seek to answer our call to ministry by encouraging the expression of the gifts of our individual members as well as those gifts we can only express when we gather for corporate ministry.

"Where Christ is served, and people are needed, appreciated, celebrated and loved."
