A Gift that Gives

Antioch UMC Holiday Gift FairAntioch United Methodist Church hosted a unique Holiday Gift Fair November 15. Gifts offered for sale were from RedBird Mission, Ten Thousand Villages, Enterprising Kitchen, Equal Exchange. Not a fund-raiser for their congregation, the purpose of the fair was to provide an outlet for their crafts and products which offer income directly to the artisans and farmers.

Enterprising Kitchen, located in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood, provides workforce development and support services to women who are working toward self-sufficiency and economic independence. They offer a line of natural soaps and spa products.

Antioch UMC Holiday Gift FairRedBird Mission is an institution of the General Board of Ministries of the UMC located in Beverly, Kentucky and its craft program provides economic opportunity for local Appalachian craftspeople in Southeastern Kentucky.

Ten Thousand Villages is a fair trade retailer offering handmade jewelry, home decor and gifts which help improve the lives of thousands of artisans in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

Equal Exchange’s Interfaith Program partners with the UMCOR Coffee Project to make a difference in the lives of small farmers and their families through the purchase of fair trade coffee, tea and chocolate.
