The EmBELLishments

Bell Choir

The bell choir rehearses on Tuesdays, 6:45 – 8:00 pm. We play several times a year, with all three choirs, and also do outside performances. There are also opportunities to attend workshops, conferences and concerts. We are looking for new people to either play regularly or substitute. If you have any questions, please ask any member or myself. You may leave a note in my folder in the church office, e-mail me at Turtle5210@excite.com or call 368-6514.

Sanctuary Choir

Santuary Choir

SECRETS OF THE SANCTUARY CHOIR

What do we sing? Choir Director Bruce Wagner usually selects an anthem that coordinates with the Lectionary for the week. Lectionary readings for each week are published in The Bell, so you can check out which one was used.

Where? We stay upstairs in the choir loft if we are singing with organ accompaniment. If the piano works better or we’re singing with the EmBELLishments, you’ll see us up front on Sunday mornings . We rehearse in the choir room.

Who can join? Anybody high school age and older is welcome! We especially need sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses, which pretty much means everybody. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00 and Sunday mornings at 9. Do you like to sing but can’t commit to every week from September through June? We sometimes need substitutes or additional singers for special occasions.

Speaking of special occasions… The Sanctuary Choir will be singing the “Hallelujah Chorus” on Easter Sunday. If you’ve sung it in the past, here’s your chance to sing it again! The only requirement is to attend 15-minute rehearsals on Thursday, March 21, at 7:30 and on Maundy Thursday, March 28, at 6:30. We will sing at both Easter services. Hallelujah!
For a quick refresher, check out this link of a Random Act of Culture during which the Opera Company of Philadelphia and singers from 27 other organizations surprised shoppers at Macy’s with a rousing rendition of the Handel’s Chorus. Get some additional practice and sing along!

Questions? Ask Bruce or any choir member.
