The settlement of the Promised Land was a history written in blood and tears. The struggle against polytheistic paganism and idolatry was brutal and it makes for painful reading. But in the middle of the bloodshed and hatred, there is a love story. It is the story of Ruth’s love for her mother-in-law Naomi, and then of Ruth and Boaz, and throughout it all, it is the story of God’s love for the people.
