MISSIONS MINISTRY

       Organizations supported by East Greenwich United Methodist Church

Primary Task

To make the congregation aware of opportunities for mission in the town, state, nation, and world, and to promote the involvement of the congregation in mission opportunities.

Responsibilities of the Committee

1.    To uncover the needs and hopes of the community and to help members of the congregation address those needs and hopes.
2.    To review, develop, evaluate, and promote the budget for mission and outreach.
3.    To educate the congregation with regard to mission and outreach opportunities.
4.    To promote giving to missions.
5.    To be accountable to the Charge Conference through the Church Council.

Responsibilities of the Chairperson

1.    To guide the work of the committee through the year, scheduling and convening the meetings, and planning the agendas.
2.    To study the mission material provided by the Annual Conference and the Board of Global Ministries.
3.    To ensure that the congregation and pastor are informed about the work of the committee.
4.    To participate fully in the Church Council.
5.    To be accountable to the Charge Conference through the Church Council.
6.    To submit annual budget requests to the Finance Committee.
7.    To submit an annual report of the committee’s work.
