Adult Studies

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
The opportunities for Christian Education are many and varied.  In addition to the Sunday school classes for children and youth, several Adult classes, led by outstanding members of our congregation, are offered.

BIBLE STUDY:  Our Tuesday morning Bible Study is held at 6:00 am weekly in the church Conference Room.  Please join us for coffee and some great conversation.  If you are interested, please make a note on your attendance form or call the church office at 884-4221, or email egumc@aol.com.

VELVET ELVIS:
The title is strange, but the book is excellent!  Tim Swartz loaned me a copy over a year ago and it took me a long time to get around to reading it, partly because the title was way too cute. Rob Bell has written a great book about how every generation needs to "repaint" the Christian faith so that it makes sense for a new group in a new day. In many ways it is a very good description of what we are trying to do here at EGUMC. I am leading a 7 week study on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm.   Bill Trench

This class is also being held on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am, and Wednesdays at 12:30 pm.  Bring your lunch!

ONLINE BIBLE STUDY:  Please join the EGUMC on-line Bible study.  Each week friends and members of our congregation share their feelings, thoughts, questions, personal experiences and faith concerning the upcoming lectionary readings.  If you would like to catch up on what we have been discussing, you can view our messages at: http://sites.google.com/site/egbiblestudy/.  If you have any questions please contact  Keith Sanzen.

THE SUNDAY 9:00 AM DISCUSSION GROUP!  Join us on Sundays at 9:00 am in the Senior High Sunday School room for discussion and fellowship. Come once in a while or come every week.  Bring a friend or not.  Chat a lot or listen a lot.  We are presently studying "Velvet Elvis."  (Please refer to above article.)   Questions? See Keith Sanzen or Tim Swartz.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY:  Join us following the early service for a Sunday morning Bible study.  After a brief interlude, this group will return to a Lectionary-based study using resources selected by the group. We will be using the bimonthly publication Alive Now as our resource to begin. The discussions will be open and lively. And, the more participants we have, the better it will be.  Please join us Sunday morning at 9:45 AM, in the Conference Room. Contact Linda Bergemann for more information.

MEN'S BIBLE STUDY  Thursday mornings at 6:00 am.  ~ What does it mean to be a Christian man in today's world?  All men are invited to join the Men's Bible Study group for coffee and discussion every Thursday morning from 6:00-7:00 am at the church. The group is reading "Disciplines of a Godly Man," by R. Kent Hughes, with future discussion planned for topics such as disciplines for relationship, your soul, character, and ministry.  For more information, see Sean Campbell (473-9076) or Paul Buterbaugh (295-4028).
