As Christians, we are a part of a larger community that extends into the past, present and future.  Likewise, we are united as brothers and sisters in Christ from one end of the globe to another.  This means that what we believe as United Methodists is similar, in many respects, to Christians of other traditions and affiliations.  As United Methodists, however, we have traditions, understandings, and a theology that have unique emphases of their own.
