Worship is simply directing our actions and attitudes towards God with praise, adoration, and thanksgiving. When we gather for worship, we expect to encounter God as we open up our lives and our hearts to His transformative grace. At Edom United Methodist Church, we gather together for the particular purpose of worship every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Because worship can take so many different forms, people often wonder what to expect when they visit our church for the first time. We want you to feel at home, so we put together the following list of things you should know: First-come as you are. Folks come to church in everything from shorts to blue jeans to suits. Second-when you arrive, you will be greeted by someone at the front door that will be able to help answer any questions you may have and will hand you a bulletin and help you get seated. Third-the bulletin you receive will help walk you through the service step by step. If in the course of the bulletin you see an asterisk (*), it means that the congregation is invited to stand as they are able for that part of the service. If you see words that are printed in bold letters in the bulletin, these are places where the congregation is invited to join in the readings or prayers out loud. Fourth-throughout the course of the year, we utilize a variety of worship experiences. Most Sundays, however, our worship happens in a liturgically rich and traditional manner. Finally-if you have questions prior to arriving, please do not hesitate to contact us prior to coming (you can find our contact information by clicking HERE. We look forward to seeing you in worship! |
