Community Presence

Throughout the course of the year we are present in the community in a variety of ways.  Here are just a few examples of how we do this:

Twice a year (at Thanksgiving and Easter) we unite with our brothers and sisters in Christ from First Baptist Church of Edom and the Flatwoods Assembly of God Church to hold a community service.  The thanksgiving service is held on the Sunday evening prior to thanksgiving and there is a meal that follows.  On Easter Sunday, it is a sunrise service that has a breakfast that follows.

We work with the Edom Chamber of Commerce to provide goodies and the opening prayer to the Christmas tree lighting each year.

We work with other non-profit organizations, such as meals on wheels, to help provide lunches for those in need in our community on a weekly basis.

We participate in the annual community Thanksgiving lunch that happens the Monday before Thanksgiving.

Our United Methodist Men's Group works closely with the community building wheel chair ramps and providing other ministries with needed resources.

Our United Methodist Women's group also works with local, national and global partners to provide financial resources and other needs as they occur.  Additionally, they reach out to local nursing homes at Christmas time to provide needed gifts to the residents (they also reach out to the residents on their birthday, making it a year round ministry).

This is by no means an exhaustive list of all the ways that we participate in the community around us.  Keep checking back to see what other great things we are a part of here in Edom!
