What Wakin' the Neighbors is all about And God said “Let there be light”…and in the case of Wakin’ the Neighbors, the Light came in the form of melodies, rhythms, and lyrics. Make no mistake; WTN is on a mission to spread the Good News of the wonders of our real living Savior. All one has to do is read through the lyrics to the songs to get a feel for what WTN is all about. From the straightforward melodies, to the direct message of the words that apply to the day-to-day struggles encountered by each and every person alive on this earth, it is evident that WTN lives in the real world, has a genuine love for God, and a passion for music that can touch the heart. The songs are inspired by the presence of God in one’s life and born out of brokenness of the soul. The stories in the songs are about real people going through real struggles and the connection that can be made with God to lessen and even overcome those struggles. The message is about having hope and love, in the midst of darkness and despair. It’s about drawing closer to the Creator, and through this relationship, overcoming the afflictions and addictions that mark our lives. The listener can relate to the everyday topics that unfold in the context of the songs, being drawn into feeling the highs and lows weaved throughout the words and melodies; the heart can be moved to feel these emotions. Music can be an inspiration; it can soothe the soul, and in a much greater role, can become a ministry to impact the lives of others. The ministry of WTN is to witness to people through song, showing that no matter who we are, we all face difficulties in our lives. It’s easy to feel good and be positive when things are going well, but what do we do when things aren’t going so well? The music of WTN passes on a perspective on life that addresses the difficulties we face. Although the “original” message about the Grace of the living God at work in the brokenness of human life first rang out in the creation story, the same message comes through loud and clear and is perpetuated by the music of WTN. It is a choice to wake every day with a positive view of the world. If we understand this choice is ours and ours alone, and are open to making this choice, we can change the way we feel personally, encourage others to make this choice, and ultimately perhaps, change the way others may view their own lives and circumstances, and the world. |
