Rev. Thomas Manwarring

Born in the state of Delaware, December 10, 1769, he died in Sullivan County at the age of 86 on September 7, 1855.  His first wife was Ruth Jarred, a Quaker, who died at the age of 30.  His second wife was Barbara Schwartz and they were married for 56 years.  Thomas and his wife died seven days apart.  They had previously joined the Methodist Episcopal Church.  In 1811, He was a class leader in Franklin County, also in 1811, he was licensed to exhort.  In 1813, he was licensed to preach and in 1822 was ordained a deacon.  In 1837 he moved to Sullivan County and in the same neighborhood he built a good frame church, Ebenezer, so that his family could enjoy church together.
