11/09—Submit a mission study theme for 2013 and 2014. 

11/09—Read about the Women’s Division fall board meeting.  This link has information on finances, the directors’

      recommendation for the Women’s Division’s new relationship with the General Board of Global Ministries, and more.

 

10/09—Read a statement about Issue 3 (casino gambling) by East Ohio Bishop John Hopkins and West Ohio Bishop Bruce Ough.

      Post a “Vote No on Issue 3” sign in your yard; contact your district office or Paul White for a sign.  Be assured it is

legal for the United Methodist Church to take a stance against Issue 3.  Read more about Issue 3 on the East Ohio United

Methodist Church site.  Make your voice heard—cast your vote on November 3! 

 

9/09—Make plans for Assembly now!  Please read carefully.  Check this page often for updates.

§         Assembly Registration

You must make your Assembly registration separately from your room reservation.  Early bird on-line registrations

are currently $215; this price will end November 30, at which time it will increase to $250.  All mailed registrations

are $250, regardless of timing. 

§         Accommodations

Donna Kaye must make your reservation to ensure you receive the Assembly price.  Donna Kaye

needs your registration in her hands by November 10.  East Ohio’s rooms are in the Hyatt Regency, one block from

the convention center.  Rooms with two double beds are $160.53 with tax.  This price does NOT include a continental

breakfast; Donna Kaye recommends you bring cereal or other easily packed foods to eat breakfast in your room. 

§         Transportation

East Ohio arranged a group airfare.  Contact your district president for more information.

      Friday on the web. 

4/09—Order materials for Children’s Sabbath 2009. 

4/09—Watch the PBS Native American shows and listen to NPR shows that complement one of this year’s mission studies,

Giving Our Hearts Away:  Native American Survival.  Follow the links to PBS in the Women’s Division article; you can

often watch shows online that you missed when they aired.

1/09—Read Maggie Jackson’s words about Black History Month.

1/09—Join the East Ohio online community if you are a district or conference officer.  Officers received invitations from Nancy Peltier,

and she is available for questions and assistance.  This East Ohio leadership community, a pilot project of the Women’s Division,

      is a wonderful communications tool where officers can participate in online discussions, chats, and more.  District teams can post their

calendars and create reminders to be sent automatically to their teams.  Emails can easily be sent to teams and committees.  Join the

community now and help to determine the many ways to use the community. 

The East Ohio community is available for leadership only at this point.  Women who are not officers may participate in the other

Online Communities for the Reading Program, environment, faith, Assembly 2010, and more.  Contact Nancy Peltier for help.

1/09—Create a United Methodist Women’s t-shirt!

1/09—Take a virtual tour of the Mission Resources Center.

1/09—Join the Online Community for discussion boards, chat rooms, articles, resources, and more.  Begin by joining the Welcome

Center to learn about the communities.  Once you become a member of that community, you become a registered user of the

basic community system and can use the same user name and password for all your communities.  Your communities will be

listed My Communities on the Main page.  Read tips for using the online communities.  Login here if you are already a member.

9/08—Purchase the 2009-2012 United Methodist Women’s Handbook, which is available now from the Mission Resource Center.

      This newly designed handbook includes Local and District Units, District, Finance, Constitution and Bylaws, and A Guide

to Program Planning in a single book.  Select your choice of a spiral binding or three-hole punched loose-leaf book.

 

8/08—Check the link on the East Ohio United Methodist Church site for United Methodist Women.  Look for the link in the Laity column. 

 

3/08—Explore the web site for the General Board of Church & Society.  Sign up for weekly newsletters at Faith in Action,

and browse the UM Power Action Center, Media Center, and Online Store.  Obtain worship and devotional materials. 

 

12/07—Remember your unit’s membership in East Ohio United Methodist Women entitles you to use resources from the

      East Ohio Area Center Media Center.  Your unit pays only shipping charges.  Check the online catalog for resources,

      including School of Christian Mission study videos.  Contact Ray with questions. 

 

11/07—Complete a registration form to join the United Methodist Women’s Action Network.  Select multiple issues by

      holding down the SHIFT key.

 

3/07—Read Maggie Jackson’s words on Women in Leadership.  This article is one of several you will find at

      Mission News & Features from Global Ministries.  Sign up to receive email notification of articles like this and

      others on topics that interest you.

 

2/07—Explore the United Methodist Church site and learn about its features and resources.

2/07—Sign up at MyGBGM for information from the General Board of Global Ministries to get reports from Women’s

      Division, UMCOR, etc.  Register and select your areas of interest to stay current on church activities.

 

8/06—Subscribe to Response magazine to stay up-to-date on where your mission dollars go.  Other articles include

      programs, spiritual growth, ideas from other units, financial reports, and more.

8/06—Complete a Talent Bank Form if you are interested in serving on the East Ohio team.  Use additional sheets as

      necessary.  Mail to the Chair, Committee on Nominations; email her for the address and insert UMW Talent Bank in

the subject line.  Contact your district president for information on serving on your district team.  Don’t minimize your talents! 

      It takes a variety of people and talents to make an effective team.

      for Conversation with Evangelical Group, But Not to Forget the Real Work.
