What’s New for East Ohio United Methodist Women

This page lists new links and information.  Be sure to check this page each time you access the site,

and review the information and links.  Older postings continue to be shown because their usefulness

to you has not expired.  Links that are no longer current are removed periodically.  Contact Nancy Peltier,

Webmaster, for any inoperable links.

This site uses no personal addresses or phone numbers.  Email Mission Team & Other Officers, Districts,

and the Webmaster; insert UMW in the subject line and identify your unit in the body of the message.

2/10—Be sure your unit submitted your correct address to the district and conference if you are a unit officer.  East Ohio must

use mission dollars to pay for incorrectly addressed newsletters.  A common error is the submission of a street address for

someone who uses a post office box.  Check with your unit leadership to be sure your correct address was submitted.

2/10—Note the conference call for the Schools Committee is at 9:00 a.m., not 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 13.

2/10—Add the confirmed School of Christian Mission Event dates to your calendar:

July 16—Mount Union One-Day Sampler for Adults and Children’s One-Day Event

July 16-18—Mount Union School of Christian Mission Event for Adults, Young Women, & Children

September 10-11—Lakeside School of Christian Mission Event

1/10—Save mission dollars!  Are you attending this year’s Assembly?  Did you attend Assembly in Orlando in 1998?  Do you still have

the East Ohio badge that attendees received?  East Ohio is using the same design for this year’s Assembly.  If you are attending this

year and are willing to use the same badge, it will save mission dollars.  Contact Nancy Peltier if you can reuse your badge.

1/10—Read how United Methodist Women are responding to the crisis in Haiti.  Check church-related sites for information on the crisis:

East Ohio United Methodist Church, The United Methodist Church, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), and

United Methodist Communications.  Read Bishop Hopkins message of support for Haiti.  Contribute to UMCOR; click on the

appropriate link to give credit to your local church for your donation.

1/10—Start working now on a prayer shawl or baby blanket.  It can be crocheted, knitted, woven, or sewn.  If you need a pattern,

many free ones are available online or in craft stores.  Bring the shawl or blanket to Assembly or send it to Women’s Division.

After Assembly, the shawls and blankets will be distributed to those in need.

1/10—Add the District Officer Training date to your personal calendar:  October 30, Wadsworth UMC, Canal District, 10:00 a.m.

1/10—Join the Online Community for Assembly 2010.  If you are attending, the community will keep you up to date.  If you are not

attending, the community will let you share in Assembly events.

1/10—Bring UMCOR Health and School Kits to Assembly.

1/10—Ask family and friends to sponsor you as you take steps to Assembly.

1/10—Learn about the Assembly offering.  It is an opportunity for designated giving to fund organizations and projects that address
