Nigeria Missionaries

The Arnett Missionary Family

Dr. Charles Arnett (Chuck) and his wife, Pearl, arrived home on March 1, 2004 after serving as Medical Missionaries in Zing, Nigeria since September 6, 2000. They will be visiting their supporting churches during the next few weeks. They latest news is they are not retiring and plan to return to Nigeria with the General Board of Global Ministries in February 2005 to work with a specific focus on HIV/AIDS. They had been in Nigeria as Medical Missionaries since September 6, 2000.

Dr. Chuck's role has been to develop review courses for the Health Care Workers. Most of the medicine in Nigeria and all of Africa is done by Community Health Workers who are trained to treat common diseases in the villages.

Dr. Charles Arnett (Chuck) retired in July, 2000, from practicing medicine at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV. Chuck and Pearl had previously served in Nigeria from 1967 to 1980. "Since I was a small boy, I knew God was calling me to be a medical missionary in Africa," Dr. Arnett said.

Part of their experiences in Nigeria are told in "Pearl's Journal." To read exerpts from her journal, go to Links at the bottom of this page.
