The Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church works with other annual conferences of the United Methodist church to assist in missions and ministry to the people of the Central Congo Episcopal Area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The primary emphasis in missions and ministry is education, health, recovery from natural disasters, recovery from warfare, refugee care in addition to supporting the ministries of the United Methodist Church in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly known as Zaire) is a newly formed nation which uses the democratic republic type government as is used in the US. This nation held its first truly democratic elections in 2006. Education and ministry through the church is one essential piece of making this democracy function as the people of the Congo hope it will.
Critical Needs: · Completion of the Fence around the Central Congo Conference Center. · A Truckload of AVGAS for Wings of Caring Ministry. · Industrial Department at Wembo Nyama These items are critical in that the longer these take to complete, the cost to missions increases at a substantial rate. Completing these projects will not only save funds for the projects but reduce costs in related mission projects! |
