Pastor's Letter
The First Thursday in May is a bold declaration of dependence as the National day of Prayer invites us to pray. The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress and signed into law by President Truman. This declaration of dependence reminds us that righteousness exalts a nation but, sin is a reproach to any people. The well being of a nation is not tied to the stock market, the fortunes of a political party or the apparent strength of its military. Instead, the well being of a nation is tied to righteousness or being in right relationship with God and others. If we stop to ponder and pray, it doesn't take long to realize how far out nation is from that standard. That's true whether we look at government, the media, business, education, the church or the family. It's not too difficult to come up examples where we have asserted our independence from God and are reaping the devastating consequences. The National Day of Prayer call us back to the basics as the Word of God declares "if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked weays, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land." Our prayers, or lack thereof, have a pivotal impact upon the well being of our nation. Oswald Chambers said, "We pray when there's nothing else we can do, but Jesus wants us to pray before we do anything at all. May we all set aside some time May 1st and pray for our leaders and nation. God Bless, Pastor Dave
Good Stewardship is a spiritual experience which bring the feeling of give to another, of sharing the resources we have, of expressing love through sharing something valuable.
